Honolulu, HI- The Swords downed the Griffins of Westminster in four sets (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-17).
Senior Courtney Lorusso (Los Angeles, CA/Glendora) was impressive, notching 21 kills on a .356 hitting percentage. Sophomore Malilimago Toailoa (Waikaloa, HI/Kealakehe) added 9 kills and 3.5 blocks on the match. Toailoa had a .400 hitting percentage in the win.
Senior Chauntelle Maduli (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had 13 kills and 16 digs. Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 49 assists for CUH. Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) led Chaminade with 19 digs. Six Swords had double-digit digs on the match.
The Swords dominated the dig battle 93-73. Chaminade was also hot offensively, winning that category .266 to .182.
Kristina Donathan (Mililani, HI/ St. Andrew's Priory) pitched in defensively adding 11 digs for the Swords.
The Griffins were led by Becky Burke with 12 kills.
With the win, Chaminade improves to 3-15. Westminster (UT) falls to 6-15. The Swords are back in action at home on Tuesday Oct. 13th against Grand Canyon. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
