PHOENIX, AZ – Chaminade's Tanya Alvino (Jr., 5-8, S, Brentwood, CA/Liberty) was named to the Pac West Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts over games from Oct. 5th-11th. Alvino ranked second for the week in assist average (11.14), registering 78 assists in seven games.
Notre Dame de Namur senior middle blocker Caitlin Torres (San Jose, CA/Leigh) has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 12, for matches contested from Oct. 5-11.
Torres led the Argos to a 2-0 week by averaging 5.57 points and 5.00 kills per game - both high marks for the week in the PacWest. She amassed 39 points on 35 kills, an ace, two block solos and a pair of block assists.
Torres also ranked fourth in the league in hitting percentage for the week after posting a .413 mark. She committed just nine errors in 63 attempts.
