Brentwood, CA- Two rounds are in the books at the 2009 Hawaiian Airlines Pac West Championships at Roddy Ranch Golf Course in Brentwood, CA. The Swords Layne Morita is in contention after shooting a two under 70 in his opening round of the tournament. The first round 70 was the fifth lowest score of 79 rounds carded on the opening day.
The junior from Kauai posted a 77 in round two to finish in 14th place heading into the second day of the two day tourney. Ryan Sheffer of NDNU is currently leading the way with a 141 total, good for -3. Morita is just six shots off the leader. In the team standings, Grand Canyon is currently in first, shooting an even par 576 over the two rounds. UH-Hilo is five shots back at 581.
