Brentwood, CA- Chaminade's Layne Morita took a hard charge at a Pac West Championship today, shooting an even par 72 at Roddy Ranch G.C. in Brentwood. Only seven players shot under par in the third round and Matthew Garcia of Academy of Art was only four shots ahead of Chaminade's junior from Kauai at the end of the tournament.
Morita finished the tournament with two rounds at even par or under (70,72) and one round at 77. All in all, an impressive effort for the Silversword. The Chaminade junior was thankful for the whole experience. “I'm very honored and pleased with my performance and the opportunity to play in the Championship. It was a great experience to head to the mainland and compete against a high level of competition. I proved to myself I could do it. We're all very appreciative of the opportunity.”
Chaminade's Kyle Neuman was the next best Swords finisher at +42.
Grand Canyon won the tournament with an overall team score of 866, +2. UH-Hilo finished second.
