CUH WVB: Swords Get on Winning Track with 3-0 Win over Slippery Rock

Golden, CO- The Swords won a three-set match with the Slippery Rock this afternoon (25-22, 25-15, 25-14) in the 2010 Oredigger Volleyball Classic. Chaminade newcomer, junior Allie Board (Redwood City, CA/Notre Dame) led the offense with 9 kills in the three set victory over Slippery Rock. Fellow juniors Poerava Gantt (Kapa’a, HI/Kapa’a) and Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) each had 13 digs in the win. CUH won the dig battle 58-48. They also won the battle at the net decisively, 9 blocks to 0. Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) finished with 30 assists for CUH. Freshman Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/ Word of Life) added 8 kills and 11 digs in the sweep. Chaminade won the battle of hitting percentage .219 to -.009. Slippery Rock was led by Lauren Rojek with 6 kills. With the win, Chaminade move to 1-2. Slippery Rock falls to 1-3. The Swords are back in action tonight against Regis at 6:30 PM MT.
