WBB: Swords Unveil 2013-14 Schedule

HONOLULU – Chaminade women's basketball coach Bobby Keanini on Friday unveiled the 2013-14 schedule, which includes six non-conference match-ups and the traditional Pacific West Conference foes.

The Lady Silverswords make their season debut with a matinee 2 p.m. home contest against the University of Alaska on Sunday, Nov. 17, followed by a Nov. 21 date against Alaska-Anchorage. Both games will be played at McCabe Gym. For the third straight year, Chaminade will participate in the O'ahu Classic on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and Nov. 29 (opponents to be determined at a later date).

The Swords open PacWest action at McCabe with a pair of contest with Hawai'i foes: Dec. 2 against Hawai'i Pacific, followed on Dec. 7 against Hawai'i-Hilo.

Chaminade returns to the non-conference slate at home on Dec. 17 when it plays Northwest Nazarene, which finished third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference last season, earning a trip to the NCAA West Regional. On Dec. 19, the Swords host Malone University from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, part of a doubleheader with the Silverswords men's game against Northwood.

Following Christmas break, CUH returns to conference action on Saturday, Jan. 4 when they host Dixie State, the first of a three-game home stand.

The Swords make their first road trip of the season, visiting Holy Names on Jan. 18, the first of four games in the Bay and Central California Areas. They return home on Feb. 3 against Azusa Pacific, are back on the road for a Feb. 7 date at UH-Hilo, then on to Southern California, beginning Feb. 11 at Point Loma Nazarene.

Chaminade finishes the regular season with four straight home contests, beginning on Feb. 20 against Notre Dame de Namur and concluding on March 1 against Fresno Pacific.

For the second consecutive year, the top six teams in the standings will compete at the PacWest Basketball Tournament from March 6-8 in San Diego, Calif., hosted by Point Loma Nazarene. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
