KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chaminade University men's basketball senior guard/forward
Tyler Cartaino (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) on Monday was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II All-West Region First Team.
Cartaino completed his final season in a Silversword uniform as the Pacific West Conference's leading scorer at 20.8 points per game. He is also the first Chaminade player to finish as the PacWest's scoring leader since Zack Whiting in the 2006-07 season.
Cartaino shot 55.2 percent from the floor which was tied for fourth in the conference and helped the 'Swords reach the PacWest Championships for the fourth consecutive year and sixth time in the eight-year history of the tournament.
Azusa Pacific's Selom Mawugbe was also selected to the NABC Coaches' Division II All-West Region First Team while Kaden Anderson of Point Loma was named to the second team. Eric Olsen of UC San Diego was voted as the West Region Coach of the Year.
The all-region teams were selected and voted by NABC member coaches.
