Honolulu, HI - The Chaminade University women's volleyball team ended a five-match drought by toppling Hawaii-Pacific 3-1 at McCabe Gymnasium tonight. The Sea Warriors came into the match 15-3 overall, 6-2 in PacWest play and ranked #6 in the West Region. The Swords are currently ranked #7 in the region and improved their record to 9-9, 4-3 in PacWest play with the victory.
Both teams hit .219 on the match but the Silverswords edged the Sea Warriors in kills (60-57), assists (52-49), service aces (12-6), and digs (70-64) to walk away with the win in four games 19-30, 30-25, 30-24 and 30-24.
Valasi Sepulona led Chaminade with 21 kills on 40 attacks (.300) while Kahala Kabalis and Patti Hardimon added 20 and 11 respectively. Michelle Norman dished out 48 of CU's 52 assists on the night.
Chaminade takes to the road this week to face conference foes Montana State-Billings and Western New Mexico. The Swords swept both schools at McCabe Gym earlier this season.
