Swords Fall in Semifinals

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Chaminade University women's volleyball team fell to 2nd-seeded Cal State San Bernardino 3-1 in the semifinal match of the NCAA Divsision II Pacific Regional hosted by UC San Diego. Chaminade's season comes to an end in the loss as the Silverswords fall to 17-7 on the year.

Kahala Kabalis recorded a team-high 20 kills in the loss for the Silverswords. Valasi Sepulona added 13 while Marijana Stanic and Patti Hardimon notched 11 and 10 kills respectively. Libero Kalae Araujo registered a match-high 22 digs while Kabalis had 16. Setter Nikoliina Rastovac had 49 assists in the match for Chaminade.

CSUSB seniors Brie Harrie and Cathleen Price led the Coyote offense, registering 23 and 22 kills, respectively. Price also had 14 digs while Harris chipped in with nine. Libero Yvette Hernandez had a team-high 15 digs while Cristen Trent directed the CSUSB offense with her 51 assists.

As a team the Coyotes posted a .225 hitting percentage led by Price whose 22 kills came on 41 attacks with only one error. The Swords managed a .183 hitting percentage, but after a .313 mark in game one, each game thereafter decreased, ending with a .102 hitting percentage in game four.

CSUSB posted 3.5 more blocks on the night, finishing with 14.5, including a team-high four block assists from freshman Sharea Drawn. Chaminade's aggressive serving proved costly in the end as 15 service errors contributed to its demise.
