Swords Squeak by Knights

Honolulu, HI - A lethargic looking Chaminade University men's basketball team squeaked by the hot hand of division III Carleton College today 67-64, in McCabe Gym.

Chris Reaves paced Chaminade (2-3) with 20 points and Zack Whiting added 14 points and nine assists. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Swords at the EA Sports Maui Invitational, falling to 15th-ranked Texas 84-62, 12th-ranked Louisville 93-63 and to Brigham Young, 77-56.

Carleton took a 36-35 lead at halftime, but the Swords out-rebounded the knights 43-26, including 17 offensive boards on the game. Carleton was 12-for-29 from three-point range behind the shooting of Jake Phillips who netted six 3-pointers on eight attempts. In all Carleton connected on 12 of 29 attempts from behind the arc.

The Swords are in action again on Sunday, hosting Division I Coastal Carolina who is coming off a 72-65 loss at UH on Friday night. Game time is set for 2:00 PM in McCabe Gym.
