Honolulu, HI - The Silverswords won for the first time this season by dropping Montana State-Billings 6-4 and 4-3 in Saturday's double-header. CU moves to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in the PacWest while Yellowjackets drop to 4-8, 0-6 in the conference.
MSU-Billings held early leads in both games before allowing late Silverswords rallies in each. In game one, the Jackets scored a run in the first and three in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Swords rallied to put six runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth with the top four batters in the order scoring. Three Yellowjacket errors contributed to the Silverswords' rally.
In the second game, MSUB again jumped to a lead, scoring three runs in the top of the second. The Silverswords scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to draw within one run. Chaminade then scored on a one-out wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 3-3. A two-out double scored the winning run, giving the Silverswords their second comeback win of the day.
The two teams face off again today in Honolulu.
