The Chaminade University softball team lost it's season opener to Hawaii Pacific University on Sunday. The Swords fell 13-2 and 11-3 in the double-header.
Hawaii Pacific broke open the first game when they scored five runs in the second inning, including a grand slam home run. The homer increased the Sea Warriors lead to 6-0 and put the game out of reach for the Swords.
The Swords bounced back in the second game and played to a 3-3 tie by the end of the third inning. However, the fourth inning proved to be fatal for the Swords when HPU scored four runs and took a 7-3 advantage. The Seasiders closed the secind game 11-3.
Chaminade is in action again on Thursday when they face Concordia in a double-header at Palolo field beginning at 4:00 PM.
