Honolulu, HI - The Chaminade University men's basketball team pounded Hawaii Pacific tonight at the Neal Blaisdell Center, 101-77. The Swords improve to 10-14, 7-7 in PacWest while HPU falls to 9-16, 6-8.
Chaminade jumped out to a 16 point halftime lead behind the red hot shooting of Kashif Reyes and Bryon Sykes. Reyes scored 15 first half points on 5 of 7 shooting from behind the arc while Sykes connected on 3 of 4 from long range. Center Nick Frey added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the first period.
The Swords pounced on the Sea Warriors early in the second half and led by as many as 31 points with 12-minutes remaining. Reyes connected on 5 more three pointers en-route to a 32 point, 10 of 16 performance including 10 of 15 from deep. Sam Henning and Nick Frey dominated the paint for Chaminade. Henning tallied a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds while Frey added 18 points and 6 rebounds. In all, six Swords scored in double figures.
Chaminade heads to UH-Hilo on Saturday to wrap up the 2003-04 season. Game time is set for 7:15 PM
