Swords Drown Sea Warriors

Honolulu, HI - The Silversword basketball team picked up another PacWest win today, beating Hawaii Pacific University 81-69 at McCabe Gymnasium.  Chaminade improves to 12-7 on the season, 6-3 in PacWest play and the Sea Warriors fall to 7-11, 1-7.

After leading 35-31 at halftime, the Swords rattled off 9 unanswered points to begin the second half. The Chaminade defense held the Sea Warriors scoreless for almost 3 minutes during that run. CU kept up the pressure and held their largest lead at 20 points with 7:47 remaining, en-route to the 81-69 win.

Zack Whiting paced the Swords with 20 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds. Chris Reaves chipped in 16 points and Dustin Mittelsteadt added 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Chaminade travels to PacWest frontrunner BYU-Hawaii on Tuesday night before taking to the road for four games next week. The Seasiders are 10-4 on the season, 5-0 in conference play. Game time is set for 7:30 PM in Laie.
