Honolulu, HI - The Chaminade University men's basketball team ran away from Montana State-Billings 90-58 tonight in McCabe Gymnasium. Chaminade improves to 8-4 on the season, 2-0 in PacWest play while the Yellowjackets fall to 8-2, 0-1.
MSUB jumped out to a 6-0 lead on three baskets by freshman Lucas Walker before Chaminade's Chris Reaves countered by scoring 6 of the Swords next 8 points. Chaminade took their first lead of the game on a Zack Whiting layup with 10:22 and never looked back. The Swords held a 10 point advantage at the half and quickly pushed the lead to 16 points (53-37) with 15:31 remaining in the game.
Zack Whiting led four Swords in double figures with 19 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Chris Reaves added 18 points, Corey Campbell 17 and Scott Metcalf chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
Chaminade's defense held MSUB's three top scorers to single digit nights. Cameron Munoz (21.6/ppg) scored 9 points on 4-11 shooting, Justin Hassell (18.9/ppg) added 3 points and Buddy Windy Boy (17.4/ppg) scored just 2 points on 1-5 shooting. Lucas Walker led the Jackets with 19 points and 4 rebounds.
