Chaminade Suffers Loss in Four Games

Honolulu, HI- In a match-up of conference rivals, Hawaii Pacific defeated the Silverswords of Chaminade University in front of an excited crowd at McCabe Gym.

HPU won in four games 27-30, 30-19, 30-27 and 30-14. Chaminade got out to an early lead with a dominating attack, along with stellar defense by Britnee Fonnesbeck. In the second game, HPU answered with a convincing, 30-19 victory. The third game proved to be the tell tale game with several controversial calls along the way. HPU took the game, 30-27 and finished the Swords off in game four 30-14.

The Swords were led by Britnee Fonnesbeck with 10 kills along with an impressive 7 total blocks. Niko Rastovac added 29 assists, while Ashley Elliazar had 12 digs and 5 serve receptions. Hawaii Pacific was led by Flavia Brakling and Barbara Martin with 20 and 19 kills respectively. Vera Oliveira contributed 56 assists and Lehua Yap added 15 digs in the win. For the match CUH hit .135, while HPU had an attack percentage of .275. Hawaii Pacific also nearly doubled the Lady Swords in digs, 52-29.

The two teams square off again tomorrow night at 7:30 pm at McCabe Gym.
