Swords Split on Mainland Road Trip

Honolulu, HI - The Chaminade University men's basketball team split on a ten-day, four game road trip covering Arizona, New Mexico and Montana.  The Swords are 14-10 overall, 7-6 in PacWest play with 3 games remaining in the regular season.

Chaminade beat Grand Canyon University (89-81) and Western New Mexico (92-77) before falling twice to Montana State-Billings, 82-79 & 102-95.

Chris Reaves paced Chaminade in the win over Grand Canyon University on February 5th. He scored 35 points on 10-15 from the field including 7-10 from long range.

Dustin Mittelsteadt's 13 points and 18 rebounds helped propel the Swords to a 92-77 victory over Western New Mexico on February 8th. Six CU players scored in double figures on the night.

The last stop on the road trip saw CU fall twice to Montana State-Billings, 82-79 & 102-95. In Game one Zack Whiting led with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Corey Campbell scored 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting and Chris Reaves added 17 points and 4 rebounds.

Night two saw Whiting score 23 points, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. He was 5-of-6 from the line and grabbed 7 rebounds. Corey Campbell scored 22 points and pulled down 6 rebounds while Chris Reaves finished with 17 points. Scott Metcalf tallied 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Swords take on BYU-Hawaii at McCabe Gymnasium on February 22nd. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
