CUH Drops Match With BYU-Hawaii in Five Games

Laie, HI- The Lady Swords didn't go down without a fight, but could not be the first team to hand BYU-Hawaii a loss this season.

Chaminade got out early in the match, winning two of the first three games, and had the Seasiders on the ropes. Britnee Fonnesbeck played very well attacking for CUH contributing 15 kills with an impressive .520 hitting percentage. Trina Kauliakamoa added 18 kills and Marijana Stanic added 16 in this hard fought affair.

Defense was also a different story for Chaminade compared to Friday night. After nearly getting doubled up in defensive digs Friday, the Swords played BYU-Hawaii even 67-67 in defensive digs. Nikolina Rastovac added 50 assists, while three players, Ashley Elliazar, Marijana Stanic and Trina Kauliakamoa had double digit digs.

BYU-Hawaii was led by Yu Chuan Weng with 30 kills and LeeAnn Mapu with 70 assists. The Seasiders win helps them to remain undefeated at 12-0, while Chaminade falls to 8-5. After the loss there is no time to dwell, as the Lady Swords face another conference rival, Hawaii Pacific for two matches at McCabe Gym this upcoming Friday and Saturday, both at 7:30 PM.
