Laie,HI- Chaminade fought and clawed its way in a competitive match against the Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii. The Swords eventually fell in the second half by a score of 3-0.
Chaminade started off with a defensive approach and was highly successful in the first half of action up in Laie. In a physical game, with cards being given out to both sides, the Seasiders outfouled Chaminade 14-8 on the match. Darren Smith was big in goal for CUH, coming up with 13 saves in defeat.
BYU-H did not break this game open until late with goals by Aaron Nonnemacher and Nicholas Vicchrilli in the 59th and 69th minute respectively. An own goal by Chaminade proved to be the final tally in the 3-0 defeat.
The loss moves CUH to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while the Seasiders are 3-2, 2-0 in conference.
The Swords next face UH-Hilo in Hilo, HI on October 5th at 7:00 PM.
