Honolulu, HI- Chaminade was defeated tonight in front of a raucous crowd and an OC-16 audience by conference rival HPU in three games 34-32, 30-27, 30-27.
Chaminade fell in a tight first game 34-32 and dropped the next two by the identical score of 30-27 in both games. The Lady Swords were outhit .148 to .092. CUH outdug HPU 57-44 and had 45 assists to HPU's 37 on the night.
CUH was led by Trina Kauliakamoa with 13 kills and 9 digs, while senior Marijana Stanic had 9 kills and 14 digs in the loss. Tamara Kauliakamoa added 38 assists.
Barbara Martin led the SeaWarriors with 19 kills, 9 digs and 9 total blocks.
The loss brings Chaminade to 17-5 on the year and 11-3 in conference play. HPU improves to 7-15 and 4-9 in league play.
The Swords finish the regular season at the undefeated and nationally ranked Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii. The match is set for 7:30 PM.
