Swords Men's Soccer Falls Just Short at Hilo

Oct. 6, 2006

Hilo, HI- Chaminade Men's Soccer is going through growing pains, but the signs of growth are there. The Silverswords held the Vulcans of UH-Hilo scoreless for 77 minutes of action on Thursday night. A Ryan Neill score off the assist of Drew Geis was the only tally of the evening as UH-Hilo defeated Chaminade by a score of 1-0.

Chaminade was led on the attack by Marc Contee who put four shots on goal for the Swords. The defense came up big and did a nice job putting a stop to the Vulcan attack. Darren Smith was again solid in goal, giving up one goal while saving six UH-Hilo scoring attempts.

The Vulcans were led by offensively by Drew Geis who tallied four shots to go along with the lone assist on the evening. Marc Fournier was strong in goal, stopping four Chaminade scoring chances. The game was marred by yellow cards, five in all, all given to UH-Hilo Vulcans side.

With the win, UH-Hilo improves to 3-3-1, while Chaminade falls to 0-7 on the year. The teams meet again at 3:30 PM this Saturday at St. Louis Field on the Chaminade University campus.
