Lahiana, HI- In a game that featured runs by both teams, DePaul had the last run in a 93-74 win in the 2006 EA Sports Maui Invitational.
The game was tight throughout the first half with the score hovering around a ten point lead in DePaul's favor. The Blue Demons were up 46-34 going into the break. The game tightened up in the second half and the DePaul lead was down to one at 52-51 after a Hayden Heiber three helped close the gap.
DePaul was able to answer the run and hit timely jumpshots to preserve the victory. Zack Whiting had his second double-double in as many days with thirteen points and thirteen assists to go along with six rebounds. Stewart Kussler was effective around the basket, scoring 21 points on 8-11 shooting along with 7 rebounds. Marko Kolaric added 7 points and 10 rebounds, while Mike Green added 14 points in defeat.
CUH held their own on the glass, finishing at 35-35 with the Blue Demons. Wilson Chandler led DePaul with 23 points.
DePaul improves to 1-3 with the win, while Chaminade falls to 0-2 with the loss.
The Swords will face the Sooners of Oklahoma at 2:30 PM HT on ESPNU on Wednesday. Oklahoma fell to Purdue 74-71 in the second round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.
