Chaminade Handles Indianapolis 87-71

Honolulu, HI- In the first of two games right before the start Pac West conference play, Chaminade, led by Zack Whiting, handled a talented Indianapolis squad 87-71.

The Swords were up by 15 at the break, 49-34 and led by 18 points with 9:54 remaining as Indianapolis tried to claw back. The Hounds cut the lead to 72-65 on a Justin Barnard layup with 6:40 to go, but that was as close as Indianapolis would get. Back to back layups by Marko Kolaric and Stewart Kussler off assists by Zack Whiting sealed it for the Swords.

All-American candidate Zack Whiting led Chaminade with unbelievable play. The two-time 1st team Pac West selection had 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists by halftime. Whiting finished with 39 points, 14 rebounds 13 assists and 3 steals as Indianapolis did not have an answer for the 6'4 point guard.

Five Sword players hit three's on the afternoon and Mike Green was second on the team with 11 points in 22 minutes of action. Marko Kolaric added 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Kussler had 9 points and 6 rebounds in the win.

Indianapolis was led by DeAndre Brock who had 18 points for Indianapolis.

The Swords out-rebounded the Hounds 37-30 on the glass and won the assist battle 20-12.

Chaminade goes to 7-4 on the year while Indianapolis falls to 6-4. The Swords are back in action tomorrow, December 31st. Game time is set for 2PM against the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz.
