Chaminade Defeats SUNY New Paltz 101-86

Honolulu, HI- In the last game before conference play, Chaminade withstood a strong effort by the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz to win 101-86.

The Swords were again led by Zack Whiting, who had 31 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals on the afternoon. Chaminade was strong offensively, shooting 60% for the game and 63% in the second half. Stewart Kussler was active all afternoon for CUH, amassing 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory. Marko Kolaric added 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds, with 11 points and 9 rebounds coming in the second half.

SUNY New Paltz was aggressive early and was up one 42-41, late in the first half. Chaminade responded with an 11-0 run to start the second half to put away the Hawks.

The Swords did a nice job with the ball throughout the game dishing out 23 assists to only 9 turnovers and out-rebounded SUNY New Paltz 36-30.

Chaminade goes to 8-4 on the year while SUNY New Paltz falls to 5-4. The Swords are back in action on January 4th. Game time is set for 7:30 PM against the Vulcans of UH-Hilo and will be televised by OC16.
