Kaneohe, HI- Competing against Division I and Pac West conference schools amongst others, Lisa Castle led all Chaminade runners with a 16th place finish in the 2006 Big Wave Invitational.
Castle led the Swords with a time of 16:20 in the 4k race. Deanne Soon was the next best Sword finisher, placing 30th with a time of 17:11. Chaminade finished in sixth place on the women's side. Chantelle Laan of UH-Manoa won the event with a time of 15:05. UH-Manoa also took home the team title.
On the men's side, Toby Castro led CUH in the 5k with a time of 18:01, good enough for 35th place. Andrew Kamiakawa was a second behind that time, finishing in 36th place. The University of Houston won the team title, with Calum Neff winning the race individually for the Cougars with a time of 15:31. CUH finished in 6th place.
The Swords are back in action next weekend at BYU-Hawaii. The men will be competing in an 8k event, while the women will run a 5k. Start time is set for 8:00 AM Saturday, September 23rd.
