Phoenix, AZ - Despite having four players in double figures the Swords offensive attack was not enough to get past the Lopes of Grand Canyon. CUH turned in an impressive performance against the much larger conference leader.
CUH was led in scoring by Brittnee Fonnesbeck with 15 points; Marian Murphy notched a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Two other Swords were in double figures in scoring, Simrin Cummins and Samantha Saito had 11 points each. Saito also added 8 assists on the afternoon. Katherine Carlisle finished with 9 points shotoing 3-5 from behind the arc.
The Lopes were led by Brandi Steinke who had 20 points and 11 rebounds on the afternoon.
With the loss Chaminade falls to 2-14 on the year, while Grand Canyon moves to 11-4 overall.
The Swords return home to take on Hawaii Pacific University February 1, 2007. Game time is set for 5:30 PM at McCabe Gym.
