Phoenix, AZ- In the third game of a three game road trip, Chaminade fell to Grand Canyon 86-72.
Chaminade came out tough in the first half, with the 'Lopes having no answer for CUH senior point guard and All-American candidate, Zack Whiting. Whiting had 18 points in the first half as Chaminade led 44-42.
In the second half the Swords were plagued with foul trouble in a very physical half of basketball. Bryan Lee had 24 points and 9 rebounds for Grand Canyon as GCU outscored Chaminade 44-28 in the second half.
Zack Whiting led Chaminade with 30 points and 10 assists. Marko Kolaric added 12 points and 11 rebounds. No other Swords were in double figures.
Chaminade had 29 personal fouls to Grand Canyon's 19.
With the loss the Swords fall to 12-7, 4-3 in the Pac West.
Up next for Chaminade is HPU at McCabe Gym on February 1st. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
