Box Score
Honolulu, HI- In a game marred with fouls, UH-Hilo made a valiant comeback to defeat Chaminade 81-79.
Chaminade was up from their opening basket until .1 seconds left in the second half, due to the playmaking ability of Zack Whiting, the hot shooting of the Chaminade guards and determined rebounding. The Swords were up 59-41 at the break.
UH-Hilo came out in the second half a determined bunch, and five quick fouls, two on Marko Kolaric and three on Zack Whiting, put the Silversword starters on the bench. UH-Hilo slowly crept back in, but CUH kept the Vulcans at bay for most of the second half.
A Vulcan basket with 2:10 left knotted the score at 76-76. After a Darrell Birton miss with seconds remaining, a foul was called on a UH-Hilo fast break and Vulcan senior Justin Dobson calmly hit two free throws for the 81-79 win.
Marko Kolaric added 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Darrell Birton had 17 points in defeat.
Rashad Bilal led the victors with 21.
