Honolulu, HI- The Lady Silverswords came back after a 6-1 loss to the Argos of Notre Dame De Namur in game one of their double header to take the first win of the season, shutting NDNU out by a score of 4-0.
In game one the Swords had 4 hits but left 9 runners on base and scoring only one run. The Argos had 9 hits and no errors for the game and sent 6 runners across home plate. Chaminade's only run of the game came off a solo home run by Brandi Sasaki leading off in the sixth inning.
Game two started off quickly for the Swords as Sasaki rounded the bases on errors after a she reached first base on a hit to the shortstop. Chaminade held NDNU scoreless and in the bottom of the third inning advanced another runner to go ahead 2-0. In the bottom of the fourth the Silverswords had 3 hits and scored 2 runners. Weseman earned a double on a hard hit ball to center field; she would eventually score on an RBI single from De Los Santos. Carolyn Fisher singled to left field scoring Saniatan for the fourth and final run of the day.
Pitcher Carolyn Fisher led all swords with 3 hits, 1 RBI, along with pitching 11 of the 14 innings played.
Amy Paulson led NDNU with 4 hits and 3 RBI's on the day.
With the win Chaminade improves to 1-12 an UH-Hilo falls to 6-14.
Swords Softball is back in action at Central Oahu Regional Park, Monday, March 5, in a double header against the Argos of Notre Dame De Namur starting at 4:30 p.m.
