Hilo, HI - The Silverswords came out dominating Rollins College in game one 30-12, but the Tar's would not go down easily in the match. Chaminade took game two 30-26, but dropped game three 25-30. The Swords battle back to take game four by a score of 30-27, winning the match 3-1.
After a dominating start by the Swords in game one, the match turned into a hard fought battle for the next three games. With rallies that seemed to go on forever and thunderous kills to finish them off, the Silverswords prevailed with their powerful offense and swarming defense.
The Rollins College Tar's from Orlando FL would fight hard for every point but it was not enough to get passed the Silverswords once again balanced attack.
The Swords offense was led by both Samantha Miller and Trina Kauliakamoa with twenty-one and twenty kills respectively. Once again Tanya Alvino distributed the attack and logged forty-nine assists for her third forty plus assist game of the tournament.
Defensively Chaminade's leading stopper was Krista Catian with thirty-three digs in the morning match. Three other Swords were in double figures in digs, Trina Kauliakamoa, Samantha Miller and Chauntelle Maduli had fourteen, twelve and ten respectively.
The Tar's were led by Piper Young with sixteen kills and Lacey Malarky with forty-three assists.
The win lifts the Swords to 3-0 on the season while the Tar's drop to 2-1.
