Chaminade Women's Volleyball Thwarted by #4 UC San Diego in Three Games

Honolulu, HI- Game one was tight, as Chaminade battled national power UCSD point for point before falling 30-27 on a tough final kill. Games two and three weren't as close, as CUH fought to get over the hump but fell, 30-22 and 30-20.

Trina Kauliakamoa led Chaminade with 9 kills, and Tanya Alvino led with 19 assists. Evelyn Bluthenthal and Samantha Miller each added 7 kills in defeat. UCSD was led by Rebecca Bailey with 16 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Elaine Chen directed the offense, setting up the Tritons with 30 assists.

Chaminade was outhit .339 to .133 and out dug 45-35. The Lady Swords out blocked UCSD 9-6 on the night.

The loss moves the Lady Swords to 4-1 overall, while UCSD improves to 3-2. Chaminade is back at it tomorrow evening in McCabe Gym to face Sonoma State. First serve is set for 7:30 PM.
