Honolulu, HI- Chaminade and LaVerne each came in to today's match at 0-3. LaVerne was coming off a 1-0 (OT) defeat at the expense of BYU-Hawaii. Chaminade had just fallen to Chico State. Neither got a win, nor did either get a loss as after 110 minutes the score was knotted at 1-1.
All the scoring came early as LaVerne got on top off the foot of Kiko Escobedo with the assist from Brad Paige. The Swords answered back as TJ Meyer's header found the back off the net, with the assist from Nick Smith.
Darren Smith made eight saves for the Swords.
CUH is now 0-3-1, and LaVerne is also 0-3-1 with the tie. The Swords are back in action on Friday in Maui in the Hawaii Challenge Cup. Chaminade is set to face BYU-Hawaii at 5:00 PM.
