Phoenix, AZ- The streak continues. CUH faced a hot-shooting Grand Canyon team and was left for dead down 10 points with 7 minutes left in the Pac West affair. The Swords kept coming and Stewart Kussler's three from the right corner with two guys in his face was the difference.
The final play was set up by Mike Green's deep transition three twenty seconds early to knot the game at 73.
Hayden Heiber stole the ball on GCU's next possession to set up the game winner.
The Swords had the ball with 1.4 seconds left under their own basket as Chaminade was poised for the win. Kussler popped to the corner and nailed a contested three as the buzzer sounded.
CUH was led by Kussler's 19 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Green added 13 points and Rodrick Johnson had 16 points and 5 rebounds.
Grand Canyon shot 53% from the floor, 69% from three (11 makes) and 71% from the line.
Ty Morrison led Grand Canyon with 21 points.
With the win, Chaminade moves to 13-4 overall and 8-0 in the conference. Grand Canyon falls to 10-7, 5-5 in Pac West play.
