Chaminade Falls to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide in Maui

Lahaina, Maui-Chaminade continued their season with a match up against the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the second round of the 2008 EA Sports Maui Invitational. The Silverswords battled the Tide, but lost in the end by a score of 78-56. 

 

Senior Darrell Birton led CUH with 16 points and for the second night in a row was in double figures. Birton shot 4-9 from three on the afternoon.  Mohamed Tangara had 10 points, 5 rebounds and was perfect from the charity line going 6 for 6.

 

Chaminade lost the rebounding battle by a close margin 36-33. The charity line continues to be a solid asset for the Silverswords, as they shot 91%.  CUH struggled shooting the ball tonight connecting 19 of the 55 shots they took, while UA made almost 50% of their shots connecting on 32 of 66 attempts.

 

University of Alabama was led by Senario Hillman with 21 points and Alonzo Gee added 12 points and grabbed 7 boards for the Tide. 

 

With the loss tonight CUH falls to 0-2 overall and UA improves their record to 2-2. Chaminade's next opponent is the University of Indiana. Tip-off is set for tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM HT. The game will be televised ESPN2
