Chaminade winning the ball against UTPB

Honolulu, HI- In a hotly contested this afternoon on St. Louis Field, the Silverswords fell just short of defeating the Falcons of UT-Permian Basin in a 3-2 defeat.

The Swords continued their stellar play early on, getting on the board first off the foot of Chase Kodoma in the 26th minute.  Nasser Abraham, Luis Paiva and Carlos Guillen scored three straight for the Falcons late in the first half to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

CUH went on the offensive to start the second half as Chad Thompson's cross found the head of a streaking Marvin Mendoza in the 53rd minute and put the Swords within a goal, 3-2.

Unfortunately, the Swords were dealt a blow when Chad Thompson was removed from the game with his second yellow card after disputing being taken down inside the box in the 58th minute.  The Swords battled 11 on 10 the rest of the way, trying to create chances for the tying goal.  It was not to be, and UTPB held on for the 3-2 victory.

Chaminade had 8 shots to UT-Permian Basin's 9.  Matt Muntz made 4 saves in goal for the Silverswords.

Chaminade falls to 0-2 on the year with the loss.  The Swords are back in action on September 3rd at 12:00 PM HT vs. Academy of Art.
