CUH MBB: Swords Defeat HPU 69-63

Joel Smith leads with 17 points

Honolulu, HI- Another HPU game, another tough win.  The Swords took the second game in the four game series 69-63.  CUH came out early, building a ten point lead in the first half.  The Sea Warriors came back, making a 37-31 Sword lead at intermission.

 

The game stayed tight throughout and was close in the final minutes.  Two three's from the deep corner, one by Joel Smith and one by Noah Gottlieb helped put a one possession game out of reach in the closing minutes.

 

Four players scored in double figures for Chaminade, led by Joel Smith with 17.  Mohamed Tangara added 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds, while junior Noah Gottlieb added 13 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. 

 

The Swords shot 10-22 from three, as four players hit at least two threes in the win. 

 

Jason Curtis led Hawaii Pacific with 14 points on the night.  

 

Chaminade improves to 8-7 on the year, 5-2 in the Pac West conference.  Hawaii Pacific moves to 7-7 overall, 1-4 in the Pac West.  The Swords are back in action at home on Saturday night (Jan 24th) vs. Academy of Art.  Game time is set for 7:30 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
