CUH MBB: Swords Handle UH-Hilo 77-64

Pearson has double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds

Honolulu, HI- The Swords saw their first Division II action of the year this evening as they defeated the Vulcans of UH-Hilo by a score of 77-64. 

 

The Swords and Vulcans battled early, but CUH used a late first half run to take a 45-32 lead into the break.  Chaminade was hot from the arc in the first half shooting 7-14 in the opening twenty minutes.  The second half was even as both teams scored 32 points apiece for the 77-64 final tally.        

 

The Swords won the rebounding battle 35-28.  Steven Bennett again ran the show for Chaminade, dishing out 7 assists to go along with 15 points in the win.  Shane Hanson had 19 points, knocking down 5 threes in the win.  Pearson knocked down three three's, scoring 12 points to go along with 13 rebounds. 

 

Matt Cousins scored 10 points and added 6 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.  Eight Silverswords scored on the evening, as Dominique Cooks had 6 points and 6 rebounds and Waly Coulibaly added 8 points and 3 rebounds in the win. 

 

Chaminade dished out 22 assists to only 6 turnovers on the night.

 

Bryan Ngo had 21 points for UH –Hilo.   

 

Chaminade moves to 2-4 on the year. Hawaii-Hilo falls to 2-3.   The Swords are back in action vs. BYU-Hawaii tomorrow night (December 12th) at McCabe Gym.  Game time is set for 7:30 PM HT.
