Anchorage, AK- In the opening game of A T&T Jamboree the Swords fell to Alaska Fairbanks by a score of 83-77.
The Swords were up early, leading 48-43 at the break. CUH was shooting the ball well early, shooting 46% from the floor and 40% from three in the opening half.
Chaminade couldn't find an answer for Parish West, who had 21 opening half points to keep the Nanooks close. CUH and UAF went back and forth in the second half as Chandler Pearson knocked down 3 of 4 foul shots to put the Swords back up one midway through the final 20 minutes.
Rebounding proved costly for Chaminade as the Nanooks dominated the glass, winning the battle of the boards 46-36.
Matt Cousins led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Steven Bennett and Waly Coulibaly added 16 points and 13 points respectively.
Parish West finished with 27 points to lead the Nanooks.
Chaminade falls to 3-5 in defeat. Alaska Fairbanks moves to 4-4 with the win. The Swords are back in action against tournament host Alaska-Anchorage. Game time is set for 7 PM AT.
