CUH MBB: Chaminade Handles Carleton 65-50

Early second half run seals game

HONOLULU, HI- Facing Carleton College this afternoon in McCabe Gym, the Swords overcame a feisty group of Knights and pulled away from the group from Minnesota midway through the second half for a comfortable 65-50 victory to improve to 5-2 on the year.

The Swords managed only 27 points in a closely contested first half, but were stout defensively, giving up only 19 to take an eight point lead to the break. A jumper by senior Shane Hanson (Canyon Lake, CA/Temescal Canyon) with 11:42 left in the game stretched the lead to 15 and Carleton never threatened again.

CUH shot an impressive 57% from the floor on the afternoon and limited Carleton to just 33% in a very tough defensive effort.

Chaminade won the rebounding battle 31-27.

Carleton was led by senior Jeremy Sutherland with 19 points; Tom Sawatzke added 14 points in defeat.
