Men’s Basketball Drops Opener of Final Mainland Trip

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – After a pair of close home wins including in a revenge game against Biola on Aloha Senior Night, the Chaminade University men's basketball team was looking to carry that momentum into their final road trip of the season.

But Westmont College had other ideas, getting a push in the final minutes of the first half to help them to a 91-70 win at Murchison Gym, the Silverswords' first-ever game at the newest member of the Pacific West Conference.

Isaac Amaral-Artharee (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) had a team-leading 15 points as the 'Swords fell to 9-17 and 5-13 in the PacWest.

Kameron Ng (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Univ. of Hawai'i Hilo/Saint Francis HS) posted season-highs of 10 points, seven rebounds and four of the team's five assists while Ross Reeves (Orem, Utah/Snow College/Orem HS) also had 10 points, although it was his lowest scoring output in six weeks.

Wyatt Lowell (Gilbert, Ariz./University of Portland/William Fields HS) and Jessiya Villa (Laurel, Md./University of Hawai'i/Kahuku HS, Hawai'i) each added eight points.

Anthony McIntyre had 25 points for the Warriors (9-15, 5-11 PacWest), which swept the season series.

Westmont used an 11-4 run to close the first half to help them take a 45-33 halftime lead.

A 13-0 run early in the second half gave the Warriors a 27-point lead to which the 'Swords could not recover.

Chaminade shot 35.6 percent while Westmont was just under 58 percent for the game. The Warriors also had a 43-to-32 edge in the rebounding category.

The Silverswords finish their trip Monday at Fresno Pacific with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Hawai'i time.
