Dereck Heresa joined the Chaminade University softball program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2025 and is the Silverswords' outfield coach.

Heresa, a 1996 Iolani School graduate, brings an extensive coaching experience and a strong commitment to student-athlete development. With a background that includes coaching soccer at multiple levels, he has also built a respected career in softball coaching.

Since 2015, he was an assistant coach with various club softball teams then in 2019, became the head coach for the Kaikamahine Softball Club, providing leadership and guidance to competitive athletes. From 2022-25, he was an assistant coach at Sacred Hearts Academy, continuing a commitment to excellence in both athletics and character development.
