The Silverswords 15-game, 5-match winning streak ended last night with a conference loss to Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu. The 14th ranked Seasiders defeated the Swords in three games, 30-24, 30-19, and 31-29.
Chaminade's Kahala Kabalis and Patti Hardimon had 11 kills each. Kabalis also picked up 12 digs on the evening.
Chaminade is currently ranked ahead of HPU in the first poll of the NCAA Regional Rankings released today. UC-San Diego topped the list at No. 1 followed by Western Washington (No.2), CSU-San Bernadino (No. 3), BYU-Hawaii (No. 4), Alaska-Fairbanks (No. 5), Cal State L.A. (No. 6), Chaminade (No. 7), HPU (No. 8), Cal Poly Pomona (No. 9), and Alaska-Anchorage (No. 10).
The Swords fall to 8-5 overall and 3-1 PacWest play. Hawaii Pacific improved their record to 12-2 and remain undefeated in the PacWest at 5-0.
HPU will host Chaminade in a non-conference match this Friday, October 10 th at the James C. Castle Gym at St. Andrew's Priory (7:30 p.m.).
