Oct 31, 2003

BILLINGS, MT - Halloween was definitely more trick than treat for the CU volleyball team as Montana State-Billings downed Chaminade 3-1 for their first PacWest conference victory of the season. The Swords entered the week ranked No. 7 in the Pacific Region.

The Yellowjackets took a 2-0 lead in the match by out-hitting the CU .208 to .151 in the first game and .257 to .093 in the second. The Swords bounced back in game three, building a ten-point lead early and holding on for a six-point win. Kahala Kabalis led the Swords with 20 kills, and Valasi Sepulona added 18.

MSUB rebounded for a convincing win in the fourth and deciding game, out-hitting the Swords .304 to .174.

Chaminade (9-10, 4-4) and MSUB (5-16, 1-7) will meet again Saturday night in a non-conference match. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium.
