Chaminade Completes Series Sweep

Sept. 20, 2003

The Chaminade University women's volleyball team swept past Hawaii-Hilo this weekend in a two-game series at McCabe Gym. The second of the two matches took place tonight as Chaminade defeated UH-Hilo in three action packed games 32-30, 30-16, 31-29. With the win, Chaminade jumps to 6-4 on the season and the Vulcan's drop to 3-7 overall.

CU's .246 hitting percentage was too much for the Vulcan's who hit just .116 on the match. The Swords combined for 52 kills and forced Hilo into 25 errors on their way to the 3 game sweep. The Swords walked away with game two, tallying 16 kills on 33 attacks (.424) compared to the Vulcan's 10 kills on 35 attacks (.029).

Kahala Kabalis' 15 kills on 34 attacks helped propel the Swords to the victory. Kabalis also logged 5 service aces and 4 digs on the match. Michelle Norman had a game high 48 assists and once again eclipsed Hilo's team total of 39 for the night.

Chaminade's next game is at home on Saturday, October 4th vs. Western New Mexico University. Game time is 7:30 PM.
