Swords Advance in Regional Tourney

La Jolla, CA - The Chaminade University women's volleyball team won it's first ever NCAA post season volleyball match over Cal State Los Angeles this morning 30-15, 30-21 & 30-17.

The tournament marks the second time in three years that head coach Glennie Adams has led the Swords to a Pacific Regional playoff birth and only the second time in school history that Chaminade University has qualified for NCAA post season play.

The #6 seeded Silverswords pounded the #3 Cal State L.A., out-hitting the Golden Eagles .458 to .101 and logging 47 assists to the Eagles 27. Of the Swords 49 assists, 39 came from sophomore setter Nikolina Rastovac. Kahala Kabalis led the outside hitting attack for Chaminade with 16 kills. Patti Hardimon added 11 kills and Valasi Sepulona had 10 on the match.

Chaminade's defense was anchored by 12 digs from libero Kalae Araujo and 11 digs from Marijana Stanic. Amy Richelderfer was in on three blocks.

Te'Ara Epps led Cal State with 9 kills on 22 attacks (.318) while Andrea Richardson and Airess Padda added 6 kills apiece for the Golden Eagles.

The Silverswords (17-6) advance to face the winner of the 2:30 p.m. match between #2 seed Cal State-San Bernardino and #7 seed Cal Poly Pomona. Game time is set for 5:00 PM PST on Friday, November 19th.
