Chaminade Finishes 3-1 in CPP Tourney

POMONA -- The 2004 Holiday Inn Select Diamond Bar/Cal Poly Invitational was certainly not lacking in dramatic college women's volleyball matches.  

Play concluded for the two-day tournament at Cal Poly Pomona and when the action was finally over, seven of 12 matches had gone the full five-game distance and none of the six tournament teams went unscathed.

Chaminade and Cal State Los Angeles both finished with 3-1 records, Western New Mexico and Indianapolis were both 2-2 and Cal Poly Pomona and Seattle University finished at 1-3.

Chaminade's Kalae Araujo was named to the All-Tournament. She was joined by Cal Poly Pomona's Allison Anderson (Jr., Chino Hills, Ayala HS), Shaun McAllister of Indianapolis, Lizzy Safranski of Seattle University and Liz Narkon of Western New Mexico. Cal State L.A.'s Tiare Tuitama was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.

Over the four game stretch Kahala Kabalis tallied 77 kills, followed by Valasi Sepulona's 68 and Patti Hardimon's 49 kills. Nikolina Rastovac handed out 207 assists and Kalae Araujo amassed 53 digs.

The Swords are now 5-2 on the season and return to McCabe Gym to face conference foe Hawaii-Hilo on September 17th at 7:30 PM.
