Honolulu, HI- Conference rival BYU-Hawaii defeated the Lady Swords of Chaminade University in three games this evening at McCabe Gym by scores of 30-24, 30-17 and 32-30.
Although the match only lasted three games, only the second game was controlled by BYU-Hawaii. The first game was a see-saw affair that BYU-Hawaii took control of late. The third and final game had both teams at game point and showcased some excellent attacks, often finished by Yu Chuan Weng and Trina Kauliakamoa.
Chaminade was led by Trina Kauliakamoa with a team best and career high 28 kills. Trina did this while hitting for a .456 percentage. Tamara Kauliakamoa added 33 assists for the Lady Swords in defeat. BYU-Hawaii's primary attacker, Yu Chuan Weng, was also on her game with 27 kills on the evening.
BYU-Hawaii also had Noelle Filimoeatu with double-digit kills (11) and LeeAnn Mapu with 46 assists in the win. The victory moves the #21 Seasiders to 17-3 on the season. The loss moves the Lady Swords to 9-11 on the season.
The teams meet again Friday night at McCabe Gym. First serve is set for 7:30 PM.
