Honolulu, HI- The Vulcans of UH-Hilo came into McCabe Gymnasium winners of seven of their last eight matches and extended the streak against Chaminade on Friday night by scores of 30-25, 30-25 and 30-27.
The match, however, was not your typical three game sweep. Chaminade was in every game and led at numerous points throughout the match. However, UH-Hilo led by Taina Savage's 15 kills and Elisa Imhof with 36 assists, proved too much for CUH.
Solid performances were turned in by Kara Smith, with 10 kills and Annie Lanoza with 11 digs in a losing effort. Trina Kauliakamoa added 10 kills and Niko Rastovac added 25 assists for the Lady Swords. The loss leaves CUH at .500 (8-8) and UH-Hilo improves to 11-5 on the year.
Chaminade looks to even the season series Saturday night at 7:30 PM at McCabe Gym.
