Chaminade Loses Heartbreaker in Five Games

Oct. 9, 2005

Honolulu, HI- In a match full of swings in momentum, the Vulcans of UH-Hilo got the last run, defeating the Lady Swords in five games, 30-26, 31-29, 25-30, 28-30, 18-16 in a hotly contested affair.

Chaminade was down early and after a close loss in game two, it looked as though it may be a three game sweep. However, the Lady Swords rallied and took the third game as well as the fourth, to force a pivotal final game. Chaminade was led by Trina Kauliakamoa with 24 kills, and Annie Lanoza with 27 digs. Nikolina Rastovac set up the attack with 49 assists on the evening.

UH-Hilo was led by Cori Sutter with 20 kills and 8 blocks along with Elisa Imhof with 54 assists, and the kill that ended the match. The Vulcans go to 12-5 on the year with the win, while Chaminade falls to 8-9 with the loss.

CUH will be in action Monday evening at McCabe Gym vs. Ursuline at 7:30 PM.
