Chaminade Volleyball Rips Off Sixth Win In A Row

Hilo, HI- The wins keep on coming. Keeping pace with conference leader BYU-Hawaii, Chaminade got it's second victory in as many nights, defeating the Vulcans of UH-Hilo in three games, 30-18, 30-28, 30-22.

The Swords continued its dominance of UH-Hilo with its third straight win over UH-Hilo this year and end the season series 3-0. Chaminade came out hot, displacing the Vulcans easily in game one, 30-18. CUH was balanced on the attack all night, finishing with four Swords in double figures in kills, led by Evelyn Bluthenthal with 12 to go along with her 18 digs on the night. Chelsea Powell added 16 digs and Marijana Stanic added 12 in the win.

Tamara Kauliakamoa added 42 assists, while sister Trina added 10 kills. Both Brittnee Fonnesbeck and Vanja Radanovic added 11 kills in the sweep.

Statistically the Swords dominated, outhitting the Vulcans .200 to .096, while outdigging UH-Hilo 69-54 on the night. CUH also added 10 service aces, four by Evelyn Bluthenthal, while the Vulcans had just one.

Morgan Bonney led the Vulcans with 14 kills, while Kahealani Silva added 31 assists in the victory.

The Vulcans fall to 5-11 overall, 3-4 in conference, while CUH improves to 12-3 and an impressive 7-1 in conference. The Swords next face the Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii in a battle for first place in the PacWest. The game is scheduled for October 10th in McCabe Gym. First serve is set for 7:30PM.
